Robotruck Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke
Haga, hereinafter “Robotruck”), a developer of autonomous
driving solutions for trucks, has raised additional funding
in its Pre-Series A round. New investors include JIC Venture
Growth Investments Co., Ltd., the venture investment arm
under the Japan Investment Corporation (JIC), and SMBC
Venture Capital Co., Ltd. With this round, Robotruck’s
cumulative funding now totals JPY 1.65 billion.
Tackling Japan’s “2024 Logistics Problem” with World-Class
Technology
Robotruck is a startup aiming to solve Japan’s “2024
logistics problem” with cutting-edge autonomous truck
technology.
Founder Nan Wu previously engaged in autonomous driving
research at Waseda University, and in 2016 co-founded a
U.S.-based startup, leading the development of the world’s
first Level 4 autonomous heavy-duty truck and achieving a
NASDAQ listing.
In April 2024, Wu established Robotruck in Japan. Leveraging
proprietary AI algorithms and technology, the company was
selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for
its “Mobility DX Autonomous Driving R&D Support
Project,” successfully completing a 100 km Level
4-equivalent test run on the Shin-Tomei Expressway (Suruga
Bay Numazu SA – Hamamatsu SA section) within its first year.
The company previously secured seed funding from UTokyo
Innovation Platform Co., Ltd., followed by Pre-Series A
funding from Globis Capital Partners Co., Ltd., ORIX
Corporation, and others.
Together with Co-Founder and CEO Yusuke Haga, Robotruck
aspires to become the leading force in truck autonomy in
Japan, partnering with logistics ecosystem to solve critical
industry challenges.
